Elephant Bhathiya Recovers and Stays Safe in Ambanpola Forest

The elephant Bhathiya spent the entire day in water

The disabled elephant Bhathiya, who was located in the Ambanpola Wadurassa area, was assisted with mechanical support to stand up again on June 2nd after receiving medical treatment. After that, the elephant moved away from the lake and returned to the forest, where it is currently staying in a small lake within the forest.

Throughout the day today, the elephant remained in the lake, and even when we visited, wildlife officers were providing food to him while he stayed in the water. During our visit, villagers had also brought a large amount of food for the elephant.

However, the elephant, who is eating well, appears to be in a stable condition. Maintaining good health like this will make it easier for further treatment. Wildlife officers are staying nearby to ensure the elephant’s safety and to continue providing food
