A young elephant, around 5 years old, has been killed after being shot in the head in the Alapaththa area of Kebithigollewa. The elephant reportedly collapsed on the spot, falling to its knees immediately after being shot.
Tragically, this is not an isolated incident. About a month ago, a similar-aged elephant was killed in a similar manner in the Palukadawala area of Galgamuwa. Just weeks before that, another elephant was also killed. These repeated killings highlight a deeply saddening trend.
